ARTCRUSH

You can discover more than 2000 contemporary works on instinct: you don’t need to know who created them, nor do you need to understand them.

DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. FEEL IT.

Discovery, meeting, purchase of artworks

What is the Godot Art Expo?

The Godot Art Expo is Budapest’s most comprehensive exhibition and sales platform for young contemporary visual artists. It was created to give visibility to creators who are still operating outside the official art institution system.

The large‑scale, multi‑disciplinary exhibition invites the discovery of young and emerging creators. Following an open call, a professional jury will select the works, which will then be presented to the public in a professional exhibition setting.

Godot Gallery

In the Expo area the Godot Gallery’s assortment is also on display: it features works by the great figures of the artistic canon that are themselves quite rare.

KOL-LABOR ’26

Öt, an artist whom Godot has regarded especially exciting over the years, also has a joint exhibition that can be seen in the Expo area.

Exhibitors and new perspectives

The Expo brings the professionally chosen works of contemporary artists closer to visitors. The emphasis is on discovery and a personal encounter with the artworks.

MKE JumpSTART

The Hungarian Academy of Fine Arts’ programme is presented as an independent, easily recognisable exhibition unit, in its own separate space, curated by its own selection. The collaboration showcases the work of the following generation of artists.

Art objects on Gerilla Avenue

Many of the works on offer at the Expo can be obtained on a Guerrilla basis. This is an on‑site Expo offer – it does not apply to every piece, nor does it provide an automatic percentage discount.

If a work strikes a chord with you, ask about it on site. The exhibition also offers the opportunity to buy artworks alongside viewing them.

Awards and residencies

The main prize of this year’s Expo has been announced as an artist residency at the castle of Val d’Aigoual in southern France: time and space for a deepened studio practice in a new cultural setting.

Godot at Art Market Budapest

Godot will be present at Art Market Budapest, at the MTK Sportpark. It is a separate event, with its own venue and tickets.

Since 2016, eleven times in 2026.

The series began in 2016, originally as a pop‑up and art fair. The 2026 Expo is the eleventh edition: its aim remains to present young and emerging artists, and to bring the works closer to the audience.
