The Godot Institute’s new exhibition pays tribute to the work of two leading figures of contemporary Hungarian painting, Szüts Miklós and Vojnich Erzsébet.
The show concentrates on the second half of the legendary artist pair’s oeuvre – the works produced after the political transition – ranging from monumental oil‑canvas paintings to smaller watercolours.
Works built upon the metaphysical painting tradition invite visitors into a quiet, enigmatic world.
We mingle through streets, building interiors and labyrinthine paths fading into mist, where the transcendentale experience of absence and void becomes even more palpable.
Szüts Miklós’s and Vojnich Erzsébet’s pieces signal the tireless melancholy of thought, their elusive search expressed across two consistent, refined bodies of work.
The serious, significant‑mood pieces convey a world that keeps its distance from concepts through their metaphorical pictoriality.
