A hazai kortárs festészet két kiemelkedő alakja, Szüts Miklós és Vojnich Erzsébet munkássága előtt tiszteleg a Godot Intézet új kiállítása. A tárlat a legendás festőházaspár életművének második felére, a rendszerváltást követő művekre fókuszál, a monumentális olaj-vászon festményektől a kisebb méretű akvarellekig. A metafizikus festészeti hagyományra építő műalkotások egy csendes, sejtelmes világba invitálják a látogatót. Utcák, épületbelsők, homályba vesző utak labiritusába keveredünk, ahol a hiány, az üresség transzcendentális élménye még inkább átélhetővé válik. Szüts és Vojnich művei a melankolikus gondolkodás fáradhatatlanságát jelzik, a megragadhatatlan keresését két következetes, letisztult életműben. A komoly, jelentőségteljes atmoszférájú művek a fogalmak elől elzárkózó világot közvetítik metaforikus képiségükön keresztül.

The Godot Institute’s new exhibition pays tribute to the work of two leading figures of contemporary Hungarian painting, Szüts Miklós and Vojnich Erzsébet. The show concentrates on the second half of the legendary artist pair’s oeuvre – the works produced after the political transition – ranging from monumental oil‑canvas paintings to smaller watercolours. Works built upon the metaphysical painting tradition invite visitors into a quiet, enigmatic world. We mingle through streets, building interiors and labyrinthine paths fading into mist, where the transcendentale experience of absence and void becomes even more palpable. Szüts Miklós’s and Vojnich Erzsébet’s pieces signal the tireless melancholy of thought, their elusive search expressed across two consistent, refined bodies of work. The serious, significant‑mood pieces convey a world that keeps its distance from concepts through their metaphorical pictoriality.

Pictures from the opening:

Their art has been showcased at a myriad of exhibitions for both domestic and international audiences, and their work has been honoured with significant awards. Deeply believing in humanity and the power of thought, these artists preach and embody this ethos, giving the Hungarian visual arts scene a distinctive, singular voice. Their work is attractive not only for its high‑level technical execution in painting but also for its enigmatic quality. The pristine visual world they create invites genuine contemplation from visitors within the Godot Contemporary Art Institute gallery.
