Székfoglaló
Meticulously crafted, its form and edges fused into a mould make it instantly recognisable even among a thousand works. The young artist from Godot Labor, with his solo exhibition, emerges from the depths of his studio at a height of four storeys to reveal his distinct universe.
The paintings that have emerged from a multi‑year creative period are the latest pieces in the Missing Mimicry series, where works that at first appear to be still lifes become anthropomorphic chair portraits. Human relationships, situations, personalities and inner states are expressed through the individual chairs, their patterns and distinctive use of colour. The chair, an everyday piece of furniture that most closely mirrors the human form, takes centre stage; it can be a symbol of humility, adaptation and endurance as well as of domination and power. The term mimicry in the series title carries a similar duality – it denotes the camouflage strategy of living organisms that blend into their environment, a tactic that can serve both attack and defence.
In the exhibition titled “A Székfoglaló”, visitors will for the first time also encounter Hajgató’s sculptures and photographic works alongside the large‑scale, previously unpublished group photographs.
The exhibition was opened by the aesthete Cserhalmi Luca.
