On Wind Silence Day, at the exhibition of Endre Koronczi

Silence Day at the Godot Contemporary Art Institute, in the exhibition titled "Endre Koronczi: Please, Stop Chattering, Mr Széchenyi!"
25 May 2024, 15:00–19:00
The temperature equalisation associated with global warming leads to a drop in wind speed, and according to some pessimistic ideas it could result in a cosmic hush of the winds. On Windless Day, through discussion and experiments we imagine together what the wind‑free future holds, how the world will change without the constant, pulsing, life‑giving wind, and what we can do to keep the wind alive.
On 25 May, between 15 and 19 o’clock we invite you to a special, open and relaxed exhibition visit, where, on the occasion of Endre Koronczi’s birthday, the artist and the curator together welcome visitors.
...in the silence of the wind:
1. With the sea‑splash choir, led by Bali János → we turn into a wind choir so that our sea‑splashes can add to the flow of the cosmic breath.https://janosbali.com/wp/)
2. Making wind portraits → We confront the absence of wind and/or its powerful force, while taking a wind photo of everyone.
3. Vision production and conversation about the global wind turbine
The upper layer of the atmosphere that envelopes the Earth is in constant motion. Wind is generated by the temperature contrast between the cold poles and the hot tropics, and by the rotation of the planet. These relentless currents shape the development of climate and precipitation systems, dictate the movement of ocean currents, drive plant growth and reproduction, underpin the social and economic processes built on energy production, and even influence our personal day‑to‑day lives. Wind sustains life – both flora and fauna – and sets the inanimate world into motion, forging a direct connection between everything that exists.
