The Godot Gallery has been dealing with contemporary visual art since 1999. The Expo, which started in 2016, is one of the flagship events of this work: it brings the professionally selected pieces of young and emerging artists closer to the public, and in addition to the exhibition it also offers the chance to purchase works.

A Godot Kortárs Művészeti Intézet operates out of a former factory building in Óbudaj. In the vast exhibition hall paintings, graphics, photographs and sculptures are displayed side by side. Within the grand industrial spaces a personal, homey atmosphere‑laden exhibition greets visitors. It is worth setting aside time for browsing: among the many works there is something for every taste, allowing a personal connection to develop with a particular piece.

As part of its collaboration with the Hungarian University of Fine Arts, the selection from the MKE JumpSTART programme is presented as an independent exhibition unit at the Expo.

What does the term “gerillaár” mean?

The “gerilla” pricing is Godot’s own approach to supporting the launch of young artists. At the start of their careers, artists’ works appear at entry‑level prices. When pieces find owners and the available stock runs out, Godot raises the prices for that particular artist. The increases are based on sales.

During the history of Expo, the value of numerous creators' works has multiplied many times over the starting level. According to Godot’s experience, a substantial increase has also taken place in the works of Gallai Judit Ágnes and Gáspár Annamária. The fair today still offers the opportunity to discover new artists in the early stages of their careers. Information about the current gerilla price can be obtained either at the piece itself or at the venue.
