Palkó Tibor is like a shaman locked inside a shopping mall, who, after everything around him has been poured in concrete and all living beings taken away, still feels the spirits that haunt him like a catacomb – alive, speaking, fighting and helping – the multiple lights and shadows of the soul. As he cannot resist his purpose, if he cannot heal, stroke animals or free people, he turns to painting and drawing, releasing from himself that energy which maps the auras that surround us and the connections between the living and the dead, discernible only through emotion.

The drawings of Palkó Tibor are a real treat for contemporary Hungarian visual art. Their fine, lyrical, airy, ethereal ambience is matched by the simple rootedness of the pencil foot that creates them, and in this creative language he gathers together everything that is needed: our ordinary madness, the nagging anger we inflict on each other, the marvels begging to be stroked, the self‑sabotaging ignorance, and all that seeds us with tears, the blood of our bodies that is turned into feather‑light, our insatiable desires, and the single way we find in self‑sacrifice.

Hangyangyal

Tell everything! Tell the story of the body's transformation! Show the twisted hand, the clumsy feet, the loneliness of the weak torso, the circuits shortened, the beautiful cut of the muscles, the sting in the place of the lost brood, the wounds that can never be healed.

Tell me everything! Tell everything again and again! And show me everything! Show me your stigmata, show me the twisted hand, the clumsy feet, the loneliness of the weak torso, the short‑circuiting circuits, the beautiful cut of the muscles, the heat where the lost womb once was, the wounds that never heal and cannot be healed.

From the piece titled “Details DrMáriás Four‑Legged Horses Spare!”

The exhibition can be viewed until November 20; it is open from Tuesday to Friday between 10 and 18, and on Saturday between 10 and 13.
