Nagy Kriszta x-T: Lopott képek
Nagy Kriszta x-T
14 September 2016 – 8 October 2016

The Godot Gallery invites you and all of you.
Kriszta Nagy x‑T
Stolen pictures
to its latest exhibition titled ___
Opening: 2016 — September 14 at 19 o'clock.
The exhibition will indeed showcase stolen photographs; Kriszta Nagy X stole them. The identities of the sources and the victims will only become public before the opening.
It exploits Facebook’s openness, taking advantage of unsuspecting participants in this game that lurks across the internet’s social‑networking sites, caring little about the hazards of marginalisation or the torrent of emotional waves crashing against them.
He steals family photos that appear on Facebook from private individuals, and manipulates them using our era’s most defining technique—mixing. He also steals profile pictures, photos from posts and selfies, turning them into artworks made from found objects.
Nagy and an unrestrained yearning drove this creative process. He snapped selfies, collected shared family photos, stole, for instance, reproductions of art objects from the internet and mixed them into high‑resolution images. He again turns taboos on their head, profanes and exploits opportunities few see. He strides into a newly, legally unprotected field, and tackles what he has always been interested in: how to create a substantial contemporary domestic market even in comparison with Western pantheons, work for a respectable fee, and produce genuine pop art today. Andy Warholt, when thinking ahead, no longer merely follows the path he set himself, but also steps onto the next move that Warhol himself might take if he were still alive. Warhol was most fond of money, saw the best art as business, and the best business as art. Kriszta Nagy feels no differently; the love that has always been her number one priority is now placed at the end of the line, behind good art and good business.
The stolen pictures can be repurchased at the gallery.
Available until October 8, from Tuesday to Friday between 9 and 14, and on Saturday between 10 and 13.
