Mondik Noémi: Lomi Party, 2012
Microsoft Paint and other similar graphic programmes are available on every computer and tablet. Their purpose lies in the fact that they have been stripped down to the absolute essentials; no special technical knowledge is required – that is what gives them their distinctive visual character. Anyone, at any time, can take one up and start drawing or jotting notes as if it were just a piece of paper in their hand. Orsi Kovács and Noémi Mondik do the same: they observe, record – and then share on the web. They live in today’s Budapest and, in this way, they immortalise what surrounds them, within their immediate physical and political environment. In their drawings the frustrations I channel from myself – a sort of therapeutic element – mingle with the renewed life of the caricature genre.
Kovács Orsi: The leadership of the Józsefváros municipality, and Mayor Máté Kocsis in particular, have taken more steps in recent months to mitigate the harm suffered by innocent Józsefváros residents as a result of the poorly coordinated and amateurish fireworks programme than… alas, experts and lawyers who can only launch accusations and deliver colourful, empty platitudes, 2013
