The exhibition by Gallai Judit Ágnes and Gáspár Annamária takes viewers into the deepest folds of the subconscious, where body and instincts govern reality. Monumental installations, technical diversity and the magical enchantment of softness are hallmarks of the show titled “Természetem puhasága”, which opened on November 23 at the Godot Kortárs Művészeti Intézet; it is the pair’s most complex ever project.
Judit Ágnes Gallai and Annamária Gáspár are two remarkable figures of the thirties artistic generation, who have been working together on their joint exhibition for years. The two artists, each possessing a distinctly unique and powerful visual world, have set the symbolic depiction of themes such as self‑reflection, care, connection to the subconscious, trauma processing, the experience of our own and our human relationships' vulnerability, adaptability and the ability to create from within as objectives. Their works urge us to confront ourselves and to experience the creative power that emerges from resilience.
Softness and sensitivity have begun to earn a positive reputation alongside changes in recent societal thinking, although even in our world built on masculine principles it is still not clear how we might assert these qualities. In their work, Gallai Judit Ágnes and Gáspár Annamária have set as a goal to uncover the positive power hidden in actions that were previously often regarded as weak or secondary, achieving this with a symbolic mode of representation that draws from the visual world of dreams and visions.
Artists with a distinctly unique and powerful visual language not only present significant painting work but also step into the space, producing installations, objects and textile works alongside their material experiments. In their monumental exhibition, built over several years of collaboration, they invite visitors to a self‑reflective immersion rather than social activism, urging them to note that solutions must be started at the individual level rather than the communal.
