Endre Koronczi’s exhibition ‑ 'Please, inhale, Sir Széchenyi!' —born from decades of research and collecting—renders perceptible the cosmic airstream that links people to their surroundings.
The gallery’s central installation is a monumental object built from the ventilation system of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. Since the beginning of our history it has become symbolic; inside the building’s actively operating interior, the elements that provide the collective breath of hundreds of brilliant scientists emerge from their hidden recesses to show us a unique kind of air‑pathway. Wind and breath become metaphors for the soul in the gallery, where Koronczi creates gusts and centrifugal fans, stirring visitors’ imaginations with real air movements. The videos, kinetic installations and graphics on display at the exhibition titled **Kérem, sóhajtson Széchényi Úr!** derive from the everyday experience of wind to bring us the beauty and strength of the invisible, ceaseless airflow.
Endre Koronczi has been a defining figure in Hungary’s progressive visual arts scene since the ‘90s. In 2022 he was awarded the Munkácsy Mihály Prize. In addition to his international appearances, he has exhibited in several key domestic venues, including the Budapest Gallery, Műcsarnok, Kiscelli Museum, Off‑Biennale, ICA‑D, Ludwig Museum, Trafó House of Contemporary Arts, Ferenczy Museum Centre, MODEM, Hungarian National Gallery and the Robert Capa Contemporary Photography Centre.
