Heterotopia – Qualitative Space

The exhibition of the Godot Katalizátor díj finalists has been given the name HETEROTÓPIA, that is, a qualitative space, in the Foucauldian sense. The collectively descriptive label, rendered with sensory precision, points to how differentiated and human‑relationship‑defined our wider and immediate surroundings, our living space, really are.

Artists with heightened sensitivity and openness had already resonated with global “external” events that affect society as a whole before those events occurred. Consequently, most of the chosen works—primarily dealing with spatial sociological or self‑reflective themes—carry a sharp, up‑to‑date relevance. Among the diverse intermediate and conceptual projects several adopt a narrative approach, which we also sought to follow during the curation of the exhibition. One work transitions into another, while the works placed together engage in dialogue with each other and with the audience.
