Godot Art Expo ’26 – Exhibition and Sales Platform for Contemporary Artists
The Godot Contemporary Art Institute is advertising an open call to participate in the Godot Art Expo ’26 event.
The Godot Art Expo simultaneously exhibition opportunities and active sales platform, where the works are not only exhibited but also put to the test in a real market environment.
This is not a traditional exhibition. It’s a medium where artworks are presented before a real audience and in genuine buying circumstances.
2. Why is it worth applying?
Sales
During the Godot Art Expo, within 10 days, several hundred works of art found new owners. This is one of the most active art market events in Hungary.
Audience
Several thousand visitors – including collectors, first‑time buyers and returning audience.
Visibility
You can showcase your works to a broad audience and provide an online presence for the bygodot.hu Platform all year round → your works remain visible even after the event.
Failure
Curatorial focus, mentor programme, institutional background. You don’t just exhibit – you also become part of a functioning system.
Here you don’t just show yourself – you also put your works to the test in the real market.
3. What is the Godot Art Expo?
Since 2016, Godot Art Expo has been one of the most visited events in Hungary’s contemporary art scene, and from 2025 it is organised in partnership with the Hungarian University of Fine Arts (MKE) Jumpstart programme.

6. MKE SUPPLEMENT
Special supplement for MKE students
A Students of the Hungarian University of Fine Arts can apply for the Godot Art Expo ’26.
Nonetheless, the Hungarian University of Fine Arts will represent itself at the Godot Art Expo ’26 with a dedicated student section. Students will also have the opportunity to participate within that section by applying through an internal university call.
It is, however, important that if they are selected via the University’s internal application, they will only be able to exhibit within the university section.
7. Awards – Grand Prize
· You can take part in an artist residency at Val‑d’Aigoual Castle (southern France).

8. Award – Further Opportunities
According to the jury's decision further prizes may be awarded:
Marrakesh – Riad Al Massarah residency with the blessing of Gauder Alkotóház
Hága – residency programme by the NGO Dei organisation
The prizes are not automatic, but are awarded on the basis of a professional decision.

Round I
Send your application by email, including a professional CV and an art portfolio. Read the following carefully, as the details related to this are provided below.

2. Do not use a file transfer system.

Round II
We notify the selected artists by e‑mail of their progression, and in that e‑mail we include the link to an online form that must be completed.
You have 6 days to complete the online data sheet.
Those affected will receive detailed information about the progress of the second round.
We coordinate the data with the artists who have successfully completed the second round over the phone, and we finalise the data sheet by mutual agreement.
III. Circle
The physical inspection of the works takes place upon delivery. We retain the right to make final modifications.
11. Art Object Conditions
• Ready for exhibition (for canvases stretched onto canvas we ask for the works without a hanger).
We can accept framed paper works, graphics and other drawings, with hanging solutions.
· We can take possession of the works by affixing a signature. (It suffices if it is signed on the back of the canvas)
For cut works, we can accept Dibond pieces or framed works of object‑art quality.
