feLugossy László: Light Examiner
Godot Gallery cordially invites you.
2005 on 19 January, at 20 o'clock.
László feLugossy: for the exhibition titled “Vad Magány /antizombie associations/”.
Opening: the performance of Erika Baglyas
feLugossy László: Wild Solitude
In reality we live in a world of appearances, a world that is full of flashy gimmicks. The more civilisation there is, the more flashy, excessively loud, mind‑numbing elements it contains, and we either fail to notice or only manage to realise at the very last moments that these tricks – the things that give the illusion of reality – are absurd, crude, cheap, defective and boring.
The amplified, maximally loud world barely turns laughable or unserious, for the sea of noise suppresses and drags into us the appearance of seriousness and authenticity that seems indisputable. It makes us imagine that we are living in a real, tangible world, with everything apparently worthy of attention, as the sights around us seem to suggest. In truth, they are simply flashy, utterly laughable phenomena worth a big laugh, and have nothing to do with anything.
After all, we laugh at them in our distress – if we can still laugh at all – and we laugh not in our natural joy, for our cheer is trampled by the knights of appearances, the conjurers of surface, and the effect‑hunters.
Civilisation continually churns out its opportunistic apostles, spewing them out with great force. With a flood of attractive veneers they make their otherwise ridiculous, hollow façades seem appealing and, above all, convincing, and millions of people are convinced by the semblance of authenticity. Only in very rare cases do they actually turn out to be laughable, and truly they are hardly worth mentioning.
feLugossy László: Loneliness
I keep a distance from lies.
from the average downwards
distance from reality
from the horror we call virtual
I keep a distance from culture.
from the manipulable consumption
I keep my distance from wealth.
From the formalism that purchases everything.
I keep a distance from neuralgia.
dangerous self‑consciousness towards others
I keep my distance from the swamps.
from the dirt and the sweat stench
I keep a distance from hardships.
from aberrant stupidity to tastelessness
I keep a distance from the points.
From the desires of every tightened specialist
feLugossy László: Orpheus
I keep a distance from ruins.
from the nastily pressing stupidity
I keep my distance from power
from hatred and violence
I keep my distance from the charade.
from the all‑consuming exhaustion
I keep a distance from progress
from the clones and the mutants
I keep a distance from appearances.
from the divattól and from the pursuit of profit
I keep myself at a distance from mass communication
from the world days and the half-gods
I keep a distance from success.
from superficialities and prejudices
I keep a distance from greed.
3 steps away from myself
I keep a distance from distance
from everywhere and from everyone
