Labrosse Dániel is a self‑taught visual artist who moves with the same high level of familiarity in graphic design, animation and spatial creation in various forms as he does in painting.

Her visual world is shaped by an open, fresh perspective that, alongside an understanding of the past and present of fine art, implies the unrestrained joy of depiction. Her art is pervaded by the enlivening of absurd micro‑stories hidden in the greyness of everyday life. Her distinctive view sometimes expresses the characterful grotesque that operates beneath the surface of life through surreal image juxtapositions, through which she honestly reveals the drivers of our world. All of this is mixed with much critique, irony, and grit, animated by the playful absurdity and humour of her canvases. In the exhibition *True Stories* she investigated urban legends and myths transmitted by word of mouth, which at times appear utterly mad, yet we must regard them as the realities that once may have been real to someone.

From South American legends to the contemporary, mysteriously spreading horrorist tales, a great deal comes to life on canvas—entirely forgotten or less well‑known stories abound. Labrosse enriches these with his own interpretations, while we also ask ourselves what deeper lessons, social implications and local values they might hold. The tradition of storytelling is starting to disappear entirely from our culture; the flow of information now demands new routes and new ways of proving it, even as we still crave the supernatural, surreal setting of events today.

A True Stories explores the link between the present and the past, cultures, perceptions and verbal codes.

At the same time as the exhibition, at Godot ICA, I want to see Wirth Abigail Hinni, and Lázár Tibor’s exhibition titled Vitamin, protein, cocaine is also viewable.
