Full exhibition text
On Friday, 25 October, at 19 o’clock, Azúr Kinga’s solo exhibition will open at the Godot Contemporary Art Institute.
The Godot ICA (Institute of Contemporary Art) opens its doors as a museum institution. Its immense exhibition space is designed so that artists’ imagination can soar even further, allowing the creation of monumental and complex shows that make full use of this capacity. In line with the ethos of the Godot ICA, exhibitions should set people in motion, bearing witness to distinctive, singular thought and to the creator’s distinctive method.
Azúr Kinga’s sculpture show is driving forward a new flourishing of the medium. “Az Egyenes Labirintus” is not only staged in the Godot ICA gallery; it also opens the concert hall in the former Goldberger textile mill on the old factory site. That hall hosts the sculpture “Azúr Kinga Fluidum,” the work being brought there not only for its imposing size but also because it is accompanied by a play of sound and light that deserves its own space. The piece comes to life in this oddly atmospheric, vast yet decades‑unused concert hall, where the decaying surroundings only intensify the experience delivered by the sculpture together with its light and sound effects. The same ethos continues throughout the exhibition space itself. Here Azúr Kinga’s smaller and larger plastic pieces are exhibited, again within an installation that conjures the mysterious, irrational world that stems from the sculptor’s individuality. Her sculptures display upper‑level forms that shape special beings or abstract representations of states of mind, where the fine, precisely rendered delicacy of shape, coupled with a captivating intellectual content, irresistibly pulls the visitor under the work’s influence. Artworks that represent the inner soul‑creations hiding within us and the individual human crises and contemporary conditions of existence are presented. Through lighting, and video‑light painting synchronised with the sculptures, a multidisciplinary character develops that elevates the profile of Godot ICA’s future exhibitions.
Azúr Kinga’s world offers an exceptional experience to all who are interested.
