Oh, the sheer amount of horror! Oh, what a great disaster! Pandemic, alienation, depression, illness, death! What can bring all this to an end? How can we escape? Where is the way out? What is the solution?

In a crisis, Godot Gallery appealed to its artist who tackles the subject, the social surgeon drMáriás, to do something about the case, and, as with the spring group exhibition Kortársak karanténban organised by Kieselbach Galéria, now also give a reply and encouragement concerning our situation, this time on an even larger scale, within the framework of an individual exhibition.

The artist has created artworks that suggest we can now do only one thing: in addition to protecting our physical health, safeguarding our mental health has become our top priority. What could guard us better than art? That which, with its beauty, encourages; with its honesty, emboldens; and with its power, frees.

In this spirit, Dr Máriás crafted the series *Anarchy in the E. U.*, in which he reinterprets the roles of political leaders, historical and public figures, and astronauts in our lives with a punk freshness, touching on various art‑historical styles. Together, the reactions of incredulous astonishment, laughter, outrage, awe, and muttering are meant to propel us out of our present situation.

The works tell new stories, featuring flags, protests, inter‑stellar encounters, warehouse concerts, graffiti, peace treaties, quarantine parties, and much much more, awaiting in exciting artistic renditions those interested who believe in the healing power of art.

The exhibition may be viewed at the Godot Gallery during its usual opening hours between November 20 and December 19, in compliance with mask‑wearing and social‑distancing regulations.
