Recently, while packing, I read again a few of my poems written 40 – 50 years ago. They were bleak, but they still feel relevant to me. The seventies and eighties were an interesting period for me. Instead of packing I sat down with a book in hand and thought about rewriting them. I then pondered the possibility for days, and finally set a pile of sketches before me, and with a quick automatic effort tried to embed the then‑present of my life, the movements behind the words, nights and days, the despair that seeped from everyday politics, the verbs behind the words, or perhaps the silence, the silences, the catharsis. In any case I updated thirty poems and lines, but I did not feel a significant difference between the world of then and the world of now. Here is the result.
Open until 6 February, from Thursday to Saturday, between 10 and 14 hours. Please check the gallery’s Facebook page before visiting for the current opening times in case of any changes.
