Details from the catalogue:

(Persus fragmentum) Everything is finite, but the ultimate torment of solitude can only be borne in mythic realms, within the sphere between dream and death. Art is a world beyond oneself, where you exile the unprocessable demons, rendering them harmless…

(The) (abject) The signs are corporeal, they have meaning, as punctuation marks do. The body of European painting is in its brush‑strokes, however sign, it is also matéria. Alongside the illusion of painting, plasticity appeared, behind the light brush‑strokes lies the material, the tangible body, the idea and the fleeting mass, the illusion of a dust‑fibre…

Persona Fragmenta (study section VI.)

40 × 30, oil, canvas, 2014

(the children of the region) The faces have never been innocent; no matter how you shape them, it seems as if the Hungarian curse is there. What false myths feed, inherited fantastical whims, what people keep alive as tradition. These faces could have been born only here – you do not say that, but you are already inclined to believe it. Hungary – self‑history, self‑condemnation, self‑belief and self‑delusion, all at once, when it sees itself as a mythical sacrifice, even though in reality it has reached this point using its own destructive power…

(The unconscious) Memory is impure, selective, it favours false images. You believe that the unconscious leads to the origin, from there you can draw upon the pure source. You already know that every twisted idea also has its cradle…

(The faces) Faces can turn into specks of flesh glowing in the weak light; the blotches piled on each other in a feeble way give the illusion of material. You start from a plain skull and often return to it. In fact, due to the cavities and angles of the bone, it cannot plunge into the darkness created by so many layers of paint. In the socket of the eye, the gaze just sways. The curves of the palate of the mouth are like the strips of deteriorating gum. You line the jawbone, the forehead, the epicentre of the browbone, the springing upper jaw with a translucent membrane. You cannot escape the dome of the skull…

Persona fragmenta V.

60 × 40, oil, canvas, 2014

(Story) You consciously and unconsciously stylise yourself through the façade of expressions, and the endless adjectives and descriptions finally obscure the original sensation. Years later you read it as a stranger; moreover, all of this concerns your images, even when you do not mention them directly. As a stranger, your former self almost becomes a barbaric curiosity, and in the stumbling you feel raw and primitive honesty. You find a connection with your even more primitive images, and you have already become sensitive…
