Every subject carries within it the moment of disintegration, which may

occur at any time. We remember the state of formlessness.

Stimulating the right points can easily destabilise the fragile structure.

Opening up.

Again and again, nothingness forces its way between the parts, and we tense our muscles to

force it out, but we never manage to finish the job; there is always

an uncovered surface, a dark corner.

In our desperate efforts, we force other things out too. There is too much to keep

outside, so we become the exiles.

A gap through which we can peer in, or a fissure through which others burst in upon us.

Inside the room, we see ourselves as strangers among strangers. We undress,

we undress others.

We want to fit in there too. Writhing figures, shadows; in their rapid movement, the

bodies obscure themselves. Everything happens in haste, too quickly to

to reach the limits of understanding.

With our fingers, we try to prise open the narrow opening, the boundary of our

understanding.

But we are caught.

They suddenly clothe themselves once more in their learned mannerisms and irritably tell

someone to patch up the hole.

"La petite mort" is a French expression meaning little death, used as a synonym for

sexual ecstasy, but as language has changed, it has acquired new

meanings. A strange change that places us on the threshold of another realm of existence,

allowing us a momentary glimpse of what truly

surrounds us, yet fully existing within it, dissolving into it, would paradoxically

entail the cessation of the self.

In any case, a rupture occurs: a previous

state of being momentarily brings another to an end.

"Illness is not even a strong enough word for it. At that moment, the personality

dies. Its death at that moment makes way for the bitch, who takes advantage of

the silence, the absence of the dead." - Bataille

According to Bataille, everyday life entails constant discontinuity, even though

the natural human state is continuity. Ritual, death, sacrifice

and erotic union bring people a sense of wholeness. They experience this only

for a moment at a time, then fall back into tragic

discontinuity.

This may open up the possibility of a new relationship with the concept of death. Nádas

In his book Saját halál, Péter writes: "There could be no earthly

object, nor did I look for one, in which the boundless

rapture I had always longed for so immoderately in the bodily existence

I shared with others could have become palpable. I never attained it."
