ABOUT THE GALLERY

When creating the programme of the gallery, we gave due consideration to the rules and principles of the Hungarian art scene. We always considered it important to further the reputation and acknowledgement of our artists, to continuously feature them in the professional literature and other media. We have monitored their presence in museums, the purchases of public collections, and we have made many an important gesture in this regard. We have repeatedly cooperated fruitfully with other private galleries and museums, organized exhibitions and events together, because we believe in the efficiency of joint action, which relies on mutual respect for one another’s interests.

We consciously developed an approach that does not merely rest on orientation according to aesthetic merits, but conveys conceptual values that point beyond. Instead of casting our vote on a single trend, school or genre, we have concentrated on finding artists with an individual voice. The artists associated with Godot Gallery share an approach that is progressive, investigative and is constantly regenerated, and a desire for expression that always manifests itself in a new form. We have found most pride in the fact that the artists we feature are not shooting stars, and beside the acknowledged names, we have discovered young talents who have showed promise in the long run. We have taken special care to make cooperation with artists long-lasting, as this is the only way to contribute to their careers.

As luck would have it, Godot Gallery opened at a time when the major Hungarian private collections were established and began to grow. We think we were of some help in this, offering a vision of art, professional advice and a sober strategy. We see with pleasure the growing number of important collections because they are the best answer today to the need of preserving, creating and increasing value.

Our slogan: The artist’s freedom, the collector’s passion.
